But in parts of Chicago and the surrounding region, the average home value soars far above the national average. In the city’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, the average price of a home is close to $775,000, and in the suburbs of Lake Forest, Hinsdale, Glencoe and Winnetka, it exceeds $1 million. Still, the average home value in Kenilworth is even greater, with the highest in the Chicago area at a whopping $1.6 million.

On the city’s South Side and in the south suburbs, single-family homes are valued far below the regional average. In Englewood, Robbins and Harvey, home values are the lowest, dropping below $100,000.
