This bodes poorly for the Sox, especially since Kluber got absolutely shelled during his first two starts. He’s a veteran pitcher so the key to victory for him is being able to dominate the strike zone and force the Rays hitters into ground and fly outs. Contact isn’t a problem so long as Kluber is commanding the strike zone.
An underrated factor for the Rays here is the quality of the opponent. This will be the first start for Springs against a solid offensive lineup and it’s likely to get the better of him.
Boston is a -250 favorite with the O/U at 8. Given how high-scoring the matchup between these two on April 12 was, it’s not worth it to bet on the totals here. Back Boston on the moneyline as they try to become the first team to beat Tampa Bay this year.
