Corrections and clarifications

· A column by David Greising on Page 8 in Friday editions misstated when then-Mayor Lori Lightfoot appointed a new inspector general, and it gave an incorrect accounting of then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s selection of Eddie Johnson as the next police superintendent. Lightfoot appointed Deborah Witzburg in spring 2022, and Emanuel pushed through an ordinance to exert control over the superintendent choice. The Tribune regrets the errors.
