Man in custody in connection with stabbing death of Oak Forest woman, police say

Oak Forest police said Saturday afternoon a person was in custody following a lengthy standoff in Tinley Park in connection with the Friday evening stabbing death of 30-year-old Lauren Pikor near her Oak Forest home.

Suburban police and SWAT forces worked to executive a search warrant Saturday at a Tinley Park home near the Glen Swilly circle off 182 Street, leading to a multiple hour standoff.

Tinley Park and Oak Forest updates stated loud sounds caused by “flash bangs” could be heard and residents were asked to stay out of the area. An afternoon announcement from the village of Tinley Park urged people to avoid the area.

Oak Forest police said they were responding to a domestic disturbance Friday night when they found Pikor in the road way near her home just a short distance away from Oak Park High School. Pikor had fatal cuts and stab wounds and was pronounced shortly after police arrived at 10:14 p.m. in the 5300 block of Diamond Drive, according to Oak Forest police.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office said Saturday Pikor’s death was the result of multiple sharp force injuries and ruled it a homicide.

Oak Forest police declined to comment further but asked anyone with information on the case to contact detective Sgt. Ryan Burnett at 708-687-1376.
